We have stayed before and the parking is fine, although there has been a fee. The pool is nice, but expect the age limit to be lowered for adult-supervised indoor swimming as lifeguards are present. The food is very good value for money. The dinner menu needs to be expanded and we had to eat out to accommodate our two children. We have previously been to DLH and had a fantastic stay. But now I am really unhappy with this hotel building! The hotel complex is always busy and well used. But Carlton's life is much easier. Reception staff were friendly at check in but the whole hotel was stifling hot! The heat inside was very uncomfortable when the bedroom door was opened but we wanted to enjoy our time so we only opened the window about 3 inches as the window frame was screwed down to limit the opening which was allowed. There was also mold on the bathroom mat when you used the shower. But after getting ready for bed, we all lay in bed and realized it might not be that easy! For 4 hours all four of us tried really hard to sleep but it didn't work, the mattress should probably have been replaced 20 years ago, no one could sleep the bed was like a bag of cement with big old springs stuck in your body. Not one bed, but three beds! The room was unbearably hot, the curtains were open trying to get air into the room, trying to lay on the duvet to soften the mattress really didn't help, it was like moving and just feeling and hearing the springs. So after packing our things in the middle of the night and telling the night porter that we couldn't sleep in our room, he offered to help us with our bags. We lost some precious days as a family and the hotel got a night's money we shouldn't have paid for.

I booked a family room for 2 nights over bank holidays. Holes and dirt in the walls, cracked door panels and bed, musty and damp bathroom, hair on the non-slip mat, rusty kettle and strange smelling room. I had to air out the room, but with a toddler it was hard to keep it on. No shampoo or body wash, luckily I had baby wash so I used that too. I would like to change rooms, but the reception is busy or there is no one there. When we left today no one even asked how our stay was. No feedback at all. The breakfast was poor, the fruit salad was not fresh. I believe this place needs a health and safety visit. For £200 per night this is absolutely disappointing.

Good times, the hotel is a bit old but all the facilities are forgivable and a good time was had by all. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed at this hotel a number of times before lockdown, we loved the location and if the weather was good we loved the space outside to relax and unwind with a drink in the sun. The hotel needs some tlc all the time, but this time it is badly needed. The double bed in our room had the worst mattress I have ever slept on. The carpets in the hallways and stairs were worn. There were holes in the dining room chairs. Slowly replenishing breakfast buffet The menu at Aztec bar is now mostly burgers, pasta pizza, used to be good, really good. The armchairs are mostly broken, although the tables and chairs in the seating area appear to be new
