Earlier this month, the "Fated to Be" hitmaker opened up to fans about seeing comments about her weight on social media, revealed she felt 'disheartened' afterwardsWhile many pop stars would shy away from discussing these difficulties publicly, especially during album releases, Rexha's audience has long appreciated her straightforward and outspoken personality.

Bebe Rexha Talks About Her Long-Awaited Reunion With TXT's Soobin: 'The Sweetest Person I've Ever Met'
Before you guys announced the album, David Guetta's "I'm Good (Blue)" went viral on TikTok as an unreleased track, and it's still ruling the world eight months after its release. How did the song and its success affect the album?
too crazy. I started the album with more of the '70s [theme] and then "I'm Good." I thought, 'Well, how do I connect these two worlds? I'm going to make some 70s style dance music with dance elements. It becomes much slower and mid-tempo, and then it changes the trajectory of the album.
"I'm Good (Blue)" earned you your third Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and you posted a fun, lighthearted TikTok about getting ready to lose to Beyoncé. How does it feel to be recognized by the Grammys again, especially with Beyoncé by your side?
Being with Beyoncé is always incredible. I mean, just being nominated is really an honor because it's great to be recognized by your peers and the Academy. My parents were so excited when I was nominated. They are more excited than me. It's always more special when your family is proud and excited and content, and mine is so supportive. When I was nominated for a Grammy, my brother showed up that night. Obviously, I didn't win, but he said, "I'd still like to show up just in case," and we still celebrated. It was such an interesting moment.
Bebe Rexha Talks About Her Motion Sickness While Filming 'I'm Fine (Blue)' Music Video On A Boat
That song also made you the first woman to top both chartsbillboardYou made the Hot Country and Dance/Electronic charts with "Meant to Be" and "I'm Good (Blue)" respectively. You talked about how success in different genres can make it difficult to fully establish yourself as an artist, but it's also so rare and impressive to have that kind of success. I wonder how you feel about it now – are you just proud or do you feel like it's holding you back?
To be honest, I used to feel uneasy about this. I thought, 'I wish more people knew who I am,' but now I'm grateful. I feel very lucky that I am able to create. I started as a composer and I just loved writing music. Music makes me so happy. Seeing that I'm topping the dance charts with "I'm Good" and the country charts with "Meant to Be" — I don't know, I don't think I've ever seen anybody do that. I am very proud. For me, this is a really cool milestone.
This new album showcases your skills in dance, pop and rock, and it's also self-titled, which is a big statement. What did you set out to achieve when you did this project?
To be honest, I wasn't going to do anything. I just want to write and create songs that I love. I will name ittreasureBecause I feel it's time people know who I am and learn more about me and my story. it's time.
How did the writing process for this album differ from your previous albums, expectandbetter mistakes?
My creative process is always the same. I follow the wind and where I'm going, and I never put myself in a box when it comes to genre. Obviously this [album] is more 70s inspired because I fell in love with 70s music. I think the songwriting is really good, so I was really inspired by that [era] and wanted to incorporate more of that into this project. From my last album to now, I'm definitely in a better place. Someone described the last album as more like the moon, and this album as more like the sun. Energy is different. It is more dynamic and fun. I hope the world loves it as much as I do.
Is there a song on the record that you are most proud of?
Definitely "Four Seasons". I always wanted to work with Dolly Parton. She is my inspiration, not only as an artist, but as a person - and also a songwriter. She's an amazing songwriter and I'm always in awe of her for being able to write these incredible, massive amounts of songs for other artists and then have her own career. So being able to work with her was a very special moment. I grew up listening to her. My grandmother always played her songs and my mother would too.
You filmed the "Four Seasons" music video together. Can you talk about your experiences working with her?
First of all, Dolly is the sweetest person. I don't think anyone can say a bad word about her. She is truly the sweetest person and she is also very funny. She made me laugh the whole time we were filming the music video and she's such a lovely person. She said, "I love you. I want to adopt you." I thought, "Well, you said that in front of my whole team, so I have the receipt." Just being in front of her was amazing - by the way, in short, she looks fine. She was wearing six-inch heels and a corset. Her breasts are high. I thought, "Girl, you look hot." It was a pleasure just to be around her.
Also, her energy levels are insane. I thought, "How do you have so much energy?" I was exhausted all the time and she was like a ball of energy. She is just so caring, so kind and so funny. She is everything I look up to and want to be. She told me on set, "When I was listening to this song, I was kind of confused—like, which is my voice and which is yours? You have such a beautiful voice." I was like, "Oh, my God. Dolly just said I have a beautiful voice."
There is no higher compliment than that, but it's true! Your voice blends well.
When I first heard it, I cried. I literally cried because firstly I couldn't believe she was singing my song and secondly her voice hit me in a way I can't explain. It is beautiful. I just love the way I talk about life and change [in the song] and she talks about it from her perspective. It's two women of different ages and we're still going through the same thing, trying to figure out this thing called life.
Bebe Rexha Says She's 'Getting So Turned On' With Snoop Dogg While Filming New 4/20-Themed Video (Exclusive)
You also have Snoop Dogg in "Satellite." Do you want to work with a country icon like Dolly Parton and a hip-hop icon like Snoop Dogg help prove that you are rewarded in different genres?
It's crazy. I am so glad they are on this album. I guess that's it. Honestly, I just wanted to write good songs, and then Dolly Parton and Snoop Dogg... Knowing that these idols are willing and excited to be in the song makes me feel very comfortable. It was a really cool moment for me.
Next month you're going on the Best Night of My Life tour, your first headlining tour in six years. What are your expectations for the show?
I'm working on the show right now and it's been a lot of fun working on the visuals and the playlist. I made sure to move older songsit was all your faultandexpect. It takes everyone on a journey with all my music. What excites me the most is feeling the energy of the fans. When you perform live with drums, guitar, bass, piano and dancers, there is another kind of connection that fills me.
Earlier this month, you tweeted about a TikTok search suggestion that mentioned your weight, saying it was "frustrating" because you "struggled" with your body image. How does it feel to talk openly about the low moments? I think many people can understand.
You don't know what someone is going through or what their health is like. We need to stop judging people. I can't be mad because I'm in the public eye, but it hurts. It hurts my feelings and it's frustrating because I always try to be the best version of myself but I struggle with diet and stuff. It gets hard sometimes, because as I said, bitches love to eat. I have tried every diet and it comes down to trying to live the healthiest lifestyle I can for myself.
Bebe Rexha says she's "disheartened" after TikTok searches for "frustrating" advice about her weight
Does it make you feel better to talk about those moments with fans?
100%. It's definitely something I've struggled with, so I like to be honest with my fans. It's like, "Yeah, I know I've put on some weight and I'm working on myself." I'm not completely happy with myself right now, but I feel like I'm trying to be a better version of myself every day. Usually when you release an album you want to be the best. I've been trying to feel good about my body, and it's been really hard.
You also often appreciate your body. You sell "Thick Bitch" merchandise, and you say you'll be selling plus size merchandise on tour, which is rare.
I was talking to my fans and someone said, "Please sell something over 2XL." So I told my team that we have to sell 3XL because it's a shame when you can't find anything in your size at the show. I want everyone to feel like they belong. I know that feeling, especially being an artist and trying to break into fashion. This has always been a very difficult thing for me because I never got used to the sample size. Even when I weighed 137 lbs, I was considered fat. I've been there, so I want to make sure I'm inclusive to everyone.
Who else do you turn to for support in these difficult times?
I often go to my mother's. She will always be my biggest supporter. I remember one time when I had to attend a student meeting, she worked extra hours to get me into the studio. She always supports me. She is also my harshest critic, but she does it because she wants to see me win. She is my best friend, my therapist, my mother, my everything.
You also dated videographer Keyan Safyari for four years. How has he supported you throughout your career?
My girlfriend supports me a lot. He's nice and when he sees that I'm down he'll try to take me out to dinner or on a date, although I really don't like leaving the house to be honest because I don't want to clear. He always tries to promote me. He would always come to my shows, he acted as both DP and director, so when I needed advice while shooting a music video, he was always there. He always gives me his opinion and I really like him.
Who is Bebe Rexha's boyfriend? About Keyan Safyari
What else did you do to keep yourself positive, especially during the album release?
Honestly, I've been training really hard. I box a lot. I feel like working out or going for a walk is really good for my mental health and allows me to really focus. So I try to exercise. I try to eat healthier. I like to swim. I love to feed people and I love to cook, so I cook a lot. That's why I gained weight because I love to cook.
Do you have any goals for this new album in terms of accolades, success or how you want it to be received?
No, honestly, I just hope my peers like it. Hope fans like it. I have no expectations. I just put the music out, and if something pops up or something does a good job, I'm like, "Oh my god, that's great." I write because I love it, and if people love it, that's even better.
